2024 RAM 1500
2024 Ford F-150

2024 Ram 1500 vs. 2024 Ford F-150

These two vehicles go head to head in the full-size truck segment of the market. They are both workhorses and leisure vehicles, and their appeal is widespread.

Trims

Both marques have a wide range of trims with varying price points that depend on the options chosen for each trim.

The base entry for the Ram 1500 is the Tradesman, which is practical and budget-friendly. Next up are the Big Horn, the Laramie, and the Rebel, which has off-road upgrades. The premium trims are the Limited, and the RX is the most powerful street-legal truck on the market, but the comfort of the cabin is as sumptuous as the sound and performance of this super-truck.

The Ford F-150 entry level is the XL. Next in line is the STX, followed by the XLT. The Tremor is mid-range, alongside the Lariat. Toward the premium end is the King Ranch, with the Platinum and Platinum Plus. The top-of-the-line is the Raptor and Raptor Plus with off-road additions.

Exterior

Exterior

The 2024 Ram 1500 is unashamedly muscular with a wide-set grille that has the Ram logo set into the centre. The hood hides one of three powerful engines that sound as good as they run. The Ram1500 TRX shares the same motor as the Dodge Hellcat vehicles, making it the most powerful truck in this market segment.

The 2024 Ford F150 grille is also wide-set and sleek, as are the body lines, bed, bumpers and tailgate.

For the first year, the F150 has a split tailgate. The Ram tailgate splits in a 60/40 format, with each section able to swing open. The Ram tailgate has several functions apart from closing the bed. It can be a worktable as it will lie flat or be a useful means of entering the bed as a step folds from the centre of the tailgate.

Interior

Interior

Similarly, the interiors of these two trucks have many variations depending on the trim and options selected.

The 2024 Ram 1500 has been packed with many luxury features such as a sunroof, Harmon Kardon sound systems, leather upholstery, many cubbies, lockers, and storage pockets.

Along with multiple storage compartments, the 2024 Ford F-150 comes with creature comforts such as leather seats and a Bang & Olufsen sound system.

Safety & Driver Assistance Technology

Both vehicles have a full suite of features. Both have 12-inch touchscreens running the infotainment and a 12-inch digital cluster for the driver’s display. Both trucks have safety features related to towing with detection and alignment systems in place.

Both trucks are packed with safety features, but the 2024 Ram 1500 also has an NHTSA  5-star overall safety rating.

The Ram 1500 has three engine options::

  • 5.7-litre Hemi V8 engine with eTorque
  • 3.6-litre V6 Pentastar engine with eTorque
  • 6.2-litre Supercharged Hemi V8 (exclusive to the TRX).

All are matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
